Giving money at All Saints

A church the size of All Saints with its huge range of activities takes alot of money to run. In fact it costs just over £250,000 a year. In addition we still have about £100,000 to raise to pay for the recent refurbishment of the Church Centre.

Some 80% of the Church's income is given directly by its members and by visitors attending services. Here are the main ways you can give to the work of All Saints:

Through the collection taken at services, whenever you wish. A collection pouch is passed round at every service. Simply put cash or a cheque (made payable to "All Saints Church Weston") into the pouch. If you are a taxpayer, use one of the Gift Aid envelopes left out in the pews and complete the form on it. This will cost you nothing but ensure that the Church can claim back the income tax you have paid on your donation, an extra 28%.

Through the collection using weekly envelopes. We can send you a set of envelopes, dated with each week of the year, in which to place your donations. This means that if you miss services, the envelopes will remind you to catch up with your giving. It also means that you do not need to fill in a Gift Aid declaration every time you give. Please let the Church Office know if you wish to use this means.

Using a bank standing order. If you wish to commit to giving the same amount each month (or other period) you can set up a standing order on your bank account. Standing Orders and accompanying Gift Aid Declarations are available in Church.

Through regular payroll giving. Many employers now offer to deduct charity donations direct from pay before it is taxed and send it to the charity. This avoids the need to reclaim tax. To set this up, contact your employer's human resources department.

By making a one-off donation. Simply send us a cheque or put it in the collection at a service. If you are a taxpayer and we do not already hold a Gift Aid declaration for you, simply write to us stating that you are a UK taxpayer and that you intend tax to be reclaimed on your donation.

By means of a legacy. A legacy is a means of giving away some of your assets when you die. To set this up, a clause is added to your Will nominating All Saints as a beneficiary. Contact your solicitor to have this provision added to your Will.

St Paul taught that:
"each person should give what he has decided in his heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver."
