More to Life

More to Life is a joint programme run by All Saints and other churches in the Weston and Newbridge area.
We put on events that are advertised in the local area.
Events include talks, quizzes, and workshops on a wide variety of subjects. There are also concerts and other musical events, and events such as guided walks on local history, and carol singing in the pub.
This is all helping to build a more active community in the area where we live.

Sunday Centre

All Saints provides a team to run the Sunday Centre every 8 weeks.  The Sunday Centre provides a good Sunday lunch for people in need, and a place to relax, read the papers, and talk with people who care.  It takes place in the middle of Bath.  The Sunday Centre is one of the Genesis projects, with teams coming from a rota of different churches.

Soup Run

A team from All Saints runs the Soup Run on one evening each week. Volunteers make soup and sandwiches, and then take them to a city centre location to give to people in need.  This includes people who are homeless, and who have addictions, and who have enduring mental health problems. The Soup Run is a project run by the Genesis Trust, involving many different churches in Bath.

Prayer in the Community

A team from All Saints and other local churches regularly prays for people in Weston High Street and also in Chelsea Road.   Many people are open to being prayed for, and welcome the opportunity.  The prayer is often for healing – physical, emotional, spiritual.  Some people ask for prayer for a friend.

Street Pastors

Bath Street Pastors is part of the national Street Pastor movement, and comes under the auspices of the Genesis Trust.   Members of All Saints join patrols in the city centre on Friday and Saturday nights to help people in need. This often includes revellers who have drunk too much and who need support to find their way, sober up and get home. Street Pastors are often asked about their faith, and many interesting conversations take place.

WestFest

WestFest was a big day-long festival that took place in Weston in 2011.  The High Street was closed and there were many activities and attractions run by local people. The major event was The Weston Passion Play, acting out the days from Palm Sunday to the Resurrection.  It took place in the streets of Weston, finishing in the church.  WestFest was organised by the More to Life team from local churches.  Another event is planned for 2012 – a Royal Tournament in Weston on Saturday June 2nd to celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.
