Lansdown Friendship Club

First Friday of the month 14:00hrs to 15:30hrs at St Stephen's Centre, Lansdown Road, Bath, BA1 5SX

A new monthly memory cafe is started in Lansdown this May. The Lansdown Friendship Club offers fun and friendship for anyone experiencing memory difficulties in a café style setting.

This new group is hosted by St Stephen’s Church and a warm welcome will be extended to those living with memory difficulties in Lansdown and it’s surrounding communities. The Lansdown Friendship Club is a place where people with dementia can come, together with a family member, friend or carer, for good company, conversation and shared activities.

The group is based on the very successful memory cafe at St John’s Church, Chilcompton. The team at St John’s are excited about the launch of a similar group for people living on the northern slopes of Bath and are helping to ensure it is a great success.

Each month at the Lansdown Friendship Club, after a welcoming coffee and a chance to reminisce and share stories, there's an opportunity to participate in an
activity. The Activities will be different each month; for example: music, singing, gardening, local history, board games, craft, bingo or dominoes. Most importantly they will
reflect the groups interests.

As a member of Bath Dementia Action Alliance, St Stephen’s has joined their community wide action to create a dementia friendly Bath. They have pledged to support ‘Dementia Friends’ an Alzheimer’s Society initiative by organising ‘Dementia Friends’ information sessions for the community. These excellent information sessions explain how dementia affects those living with it and what we can do to make a difference to the lives of those affected by dementia, from being more patient in a shop queue to campaigning for change. There are more than two million dementia friends, including the friendship club’s leaders.

The Lansdown Friendship Club is held in the St Stephen’s Centre, St Stephen’s Church Lansdown between 14:00hrs and 15:30hrs on the first Friday of every month. The first meeting was on Friday 3rd May. It is a free event with voluntary contributions for refreshments.
All Welcome from Lansdown and all the surrounding communities in Bath and beyond.
