Be prepared to give an answer
But in your hearts set apart Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect.
1 Peter 3:15
Every day now is full of challenges…but also opportunities.
Challenges, because we’re having to navigate a new way of living as well as having to absorb an unfolding story that would have been unthinkable a few weeks ago. Every day brings disturbing and heartbreaking statistics and we have to find a way of coping with that. We’re having to confront our human frailty and acknowledge that we’re not in control.
Opportunity…because for exactly those reasons, people are coming together and community is growing. Barriers are coming down and we have an amazing window of opportunity in which to share our faith in ways that demonstrate God’s love, not our religion.
What have we got to lose…and how much do the people we share our faith with have to gain?
As we approach Easter, we have even more opportunities to talk about the reason for the hope that we have.
Father, your love for us sent Jesus to the cross. Thank you for saving me. Break my heart again for those who don’t yet know you and give me compassion and courage to share your love with those you put in my path.
