This is love

This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.

1 John 4:10

Since the children have flesh and blood, he too shared in their humanity so that by his death he might destroy him who holds the power of death— that is the devil— and free those who all their lives were held in slavery by their fear of death.

Hebrews 2:14-15

None of us know exactly what happened in the time between the death of Jesus and his resurrection on the third day.

It’s a strange time of waiting….just as Jesus’ followers had to wait until after the Sabbath to attend to his body.

It’s hard to imagine their grief and trauma at having witnessed his appalling death and their fear because they didn’t know what was going to happen next.

We do know what happened next…..and yet, this time we’re living through as we have to face, daily, the unfolding of this pandemic, feels like a time of waiting. Waiting for God to reveal his plans to us. Waiting to see the resurrection power of Jesus roll out across the nations.

Father, help me in this time of waiting and uncertainty. May your Kingdom come and your will be done. My hope is in you. All my hope is in you. Come Lord Jesus.
