If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land. 2 Chron 7:14
As we approach Lent and consider our response to this special time leading up to Easter, Peter Stoneley has highlighted again this amazing passage of scripture and how it challenges us in these times.
He and Alison are planning to set aside one day a week in Lent and during that day, they plan to fast from one meal, using the time that would have been spent in preparation and eating, to pray instead.
Fasting isn’t for everyone but it may be that some of us feel called to join them in this discipline for this season.
Fasting doesn’t change God but if we approach it with the right motives, it can certainly change us because it’s a way of making more space in our lives for God to speak to us.
